How can I stop myself from excessively procrastinating?

Procrastination is an active process that degrades one’s potential to achieve their desired goal. Procrastination over a long period of time leads to de-motivation which can cause distress, poor work ethic, and an interference with daily tasks. Below listed are some potential ways that a person can be free from procrastination. Firstly, create a schedule every morning of the things that need to be accomplished. This way, you can be self-aware of your responsibilities, creating a sense of time limits. Secondly, set up a productive work environment. While working, do not keep technology around. If the technology is necessary, then the usage of app blockers (Android: Digit Wellbeing and IOS: Screen Time) is a significant way to reduce distraction. If possible, it would also be convenient to not sit by a window, as it is easy to get distracted by the outdoors. Also, setting up all necessities (water bottle, pencil case, binders, etc.) before getting started reduces the chances of getting up from the work environment.
In addition, giving your work a meaning might motivate you to work harder. If you care about something, then your conscience would remind you of the wrongs of procrastinating with emotions like guilt. This is a positive punishment that would aid to prevent negative habits in work ethics. Furthermore, it is advised that one should distance themselves from poor procrastinating habits in their daily lives (for example, reducing the amount of time spent on the phone), and partake in healthy activities that can help themselves grow, such as reading or playing sports. Last but not least, sleep is one of the most critical factors which can reduce procrastination. Sleep can improve concentration levels, problem-solving skills, memory, and can also better the mood. It is advised that a person should get at least eight hours of sleep plus a thirty-minute power nap between the day.
