How do I leave a toxic friend group?

Leaving a toxic friend group can often be a very tough process for a lot of people. The first step (and the hardest) in leaving a toxic friend group is recognizing that you are in a toxic friend group. Oftentimes, people will ignore their friends' toxic tendencies because they are scared of confrontations or being left alone. Once you recognize that you have a toxic friend group, I find that the best thing to do is to be honest with your friends; tell them why you feel distanced, and why you want to end the relationship. Try to leave the group in a cordial yet decisive manner to avoid letting them convince you to change your mind. You have made your decision; don't let them gaslight you about your concerns. After you have left your toxic friends, remember that it is still important to have a support group! Try to make new friends that are supportive and kind. Good luck with leaving your toxic group and best of luck finding new friends in the future!
