How do I stop comparing myself to those on social media?

We all are guilty of comparing ourselves to others. Especially in today’s world of social media, it is often hard to not make comparisons. Someone might look better than us, might have more followers, might be smarter, or might be richer. Whatever the comparisons may be that you are making, it is important to remember that on social media, you only see what the other person is trying to show you. Social media represents a small snapshot of carefully chosen moments that an individual decides to showcase to the world. People often post about their accomplishments and happiest moments rather than their failures, struggles, and bad moments. Does this mean that their life is perfect? Of course not! Seeing others’ posts

may cause us to feel like we are not good enough or as perfect as them. However, it is important to keep in mind that no one is perfect. We ALL have bad moments, struggles, and weaknesses which we often hide from the world.

So next time when you come across a post and start comparing yourself to it, stop and remember that social media is not a true representation of anyone’s life. It is important that we practice gratitude and count our blessings. Note down the big and little things that you are thankful for in your life. The more we find to be thankful for in our own life, the more we fall in love with ourselves and the less likely we are to compare ourselves with others.
