What can I do to practice self care?

Self care is such an essential part of life because it helps you focus and feel confident in yourself. As a way of practicing self care, you can try bettering your mental and physical health; there are many things you can do to take care of your body and mind. Firstly, surround yourself with supportive people, such as your family and friends. You always want to be around people who respect your boundaries and help elevate you. Similarly, asserting positive messages upon yourself is helpful; always say something positive and powerful, such as ‘I am doing my best’ or ‘I will get through this.’ Giving affirmations allows you to believe in yourself and get through hardships. Exercising is equally as important because it helps you focus on your body and mind. If not regularly, try exercising by just staying active. You can go to the gym, dance, join a yoga class, or even just go for a walk. Another important thing is to eat healthy. Eating vegetables, proteins, and regular meals will keep you energized. Furthermore, getting a good amount of sleep can be hard sometimes but it is always good to set goals and make sure you are free from distractions. It is very important to have at least 7 hours of sleep. Lastly, as a teen, it can be very stressful to balance your school and social lives. The best method is to make schedules and keep space in between for rests. It is important to make time for leisure and engage in a variety of fun activities. Relaxing activities include watching your favourite movie, finding a new hobby, listening to music, and catching up with your friends. Managing stress is a big part of practicing self care.


Moreover, there are a variety of relaxation techniques that help with energy and motivation. Briefly, a few of those techniques are keeping a journal, practicing deep breathing, and closing your eyes to relax. Hopefully following some of these routines will help you manage and practice self care. Try to have a good mindset towards things
